The history of medical education in central Ohio is rich and turbulent. Although The Ohio State University College of Medicine was not officially established until 1914, its roots can be traced to the founding of Willoughby Medical College, Willoughby, Ohio, in 1834. In the intervening years, the predecessor schools relocated, splintered, reunited, splintered again, finally combining to form the OSU College of Medicine.
