Processing Notes

Several of the photographs within the series had “post-it” or sticky notes attached to them. They were photocopied to document note placement and content onto acid-free paper by the archivist and the photocopy is located with the photograph to which the note was attached in its preservation envelope. Many photographs are labeled with additional information on the front or back of each photo.

Although the small size of the collection makes the formation of formal series unnecessary, the items have been divided into photographs and documents in the finding aid and within the folder.

The Ohio State University Medical Heritage Center owns the property rights to this collection.

Provenance

The items in this collection were sent to the Medical Heritage Center in 2002 by Shirley Bogart Tarbill. The collection was processed in January 2003 by Judith Wiener.

HISTORICAL SKETCH

Shirley Bogart Tarbill is a native Ohioan and a 1952 graduate of the OSU School of Nursing. She is well known for her public health initiatives in Central Ohio, as well as her work with diabetics, and the mentally retarded.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Shirley Bogart Tarbill Collection contains the nursing school remembrances and memorabilia of Tarbill as well as newspaper clippings and correspondence from her nursing career.
