Series I: Video Tapes and Programs

HISTORICAL SKETCH

The Ohio State University Department of Internal Medicine began the Earl N. Metz Distinguished Physician Award in 1997. Dr. Ernie Mazzaferri is credited with originating the idea for the award in 1996. Each year, the department’s faculty selects an area doctor to receive the award, who in turn, gives a lecture during the Earl Nelson Metz Distinguished Physician Award Symposium.

The award is named after Earl. N. Metz, MD (1935-), who was honored as the award’s first recipient in 1997.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Metz Award Collection contains a VHS video tape and lecture program for each of the annual lectures. The collection is added to on an annual basis.

Of particular interest are the programs, which contain extensive biographical information about each recipient, as well as departmental historical information.

SERIES DESCRIPTIONS

Series I, Video Tape and Programs, contains VHS tapes and programs for each of the Metz lectures since 1997. New tapes and programs are added annually.
