During this collection of correspondence, Newton advises Barrit on her doctoral work, publications, as well as training and working with nursing staff. Newton also shares some of her views on women as administrators, professionals, and general news events of the era. Class Photos Collection
The Class Photos collection contains photographs of graduates of various medical schools in Central Ohio. In addition to graduating students, faculty, class reunion, and house staff photographs are found within the collection. The class photographs vary between group photographs and individualized photographs pasted on oversized board.
The photographs, generally, were taken by the medical schools as a record of their graduates. The collection is incomplete. Refer to the finding aid’s container listing as well as the listing by school and year for more information.
The Columbus Hospital Federation Collection (approximately 1 linear foot) is material about the Columbus Hospital Federation. This material includes annual reports and photographs.

The Katherine A. Donnelly Collection (1 file folder) contains a vaccination booklet, three news clippings and a photocopied picture about Donnelly.
The John Dudley Dunham Collection (1 file folder) contains a typed letter from Dr. John Dudley Dunham to Dr. R. Theadore Morgan about a patient suffering from stenosis.

E. Kenneth Gillette, MD Collection
The E. Kenneth Gillette, MD Collection (approximately ½ linear foot) is a compilation of class notes and photographs of E. Kenneth Gillette while he was a medical student at Ohio State.
The Dr. Jerry Guy collection contains a variety of slides used by Guy during presentations and lectures. Many of the slides detail his work in the medical field of oncology.
The John Harris Dental Museum Collection (approximately 5 linear feet) is a compilation of material that documents the Museum’s collections with some information about its history and financial aspects.
The William Havener Collection (approximately 26 linear feet) is a collection of material produced by Dr. Havener. It is composed of six series and primarily contains awards and films of eye surgeries.

The William H. Henry Collection (1 linear foot) contains information about William H. Henry, M.D.
This collection contains three nursing photographs.
This collection contains an 1894 graduation photo of Hill as well as an 1894 photograph of an unknown classmate. A later undated photograph of Dr. Hill in his office is also located in the collection.
The Staff Photography Collection contains negatives and some slides of buildings, Doctor’s Lecture Images, Doctor’s Portraits, and miscellaneous images displaying the Ohio State University’s College of Medicine over many years.
This collection is weak where dates are concerned since only some of the images have dates.
The Richard L. Howard, MD Collection (approximately 1 linear foot) is material by or about Richard L. Howard primarily while he was in Europe in 1851.
The Arthur G. James Collection (approximately 165 linear feet) consists of artifacts, awards, slides, negatives, photographs, audio and video recordings, as well as various papers related to associations and departmental records, correspondence, and publications. These items document his position as the first medical director of the cancer hospital, his thirty-five year effort to acquire funding to build a cancer hospital in central Ohio, his presidential year with the American Cancer Society, his career at the Ohio State University, and his family life.
People of note in this collection include: William Farrar, MD; William G. Myers, MD; Vernal Riffe, former speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives; R. David Thomas, Founder of Wendy’s International, Inc.; and George Voinovich, United States Senator.

The Chauncey D. Leake, PhD Collection (approximately 2 ½ linear feet) is material about Chauncey Leake.
The Milton A. Lessler, MD Collection (1 file folder) is information about the Beck Reflecting Microscope. The Beck Microscope was used to make optical measurements of cellular physiological processes from 1953 – 1988.
The Aldo Luisada Collection (approximately 3 ½ linear feet) is a collection of reprints on the topic of phonocardiography.
This collection is arranged by photograph size, of which there is two, and then in alphabetical order. The date listed for each photograph is the year that individual was honored with the Man of the Year or Professor of the Year award.
The Medical Heritage Center Collection (approximately 35 linear feet) is a compilation of material that documents the history of the Medical Heritage Center and its current and past activities.
The Medical Review Club Collection (approximately 1 linear foot) is a compilation of material that primarily documents their members and their meetings from 1953 – 1992.
The Metz Award Collection contains a VHS video tape or DVD and lecture program for each of the annual lectures. The collection is added to on an annual basis. Of particular interest are the programs, which contain extensive biographical information about each recipient, as well as departmental historical information.
The Paul Metzger, MD Collection (0.5 linear foot) primarily contains his class notes.
The Mid-Ohio District Nurses Association Collection (approximately 8 linear feet) is a compilation of material that primarily documents the history of the Association from 1925 – 1975.
The Jack Miles, MD Collection (approximately ½ linear foot) is an x-ray and physician charge slips. This collection is restricted.
The William G. Myers MD, PhD, Collection (approximately 140 linear feet) consists of artifacts, awards, slides, negatives, photographs, audio and video recordings, as well as various papers related to association and departmental records, correspondence, publications, research, speeches, exhibits, and lectures. These items document his position as a pioneer in nuclear medicine, a civil defense organizer, a long-time Society of Nuclear Medicine executive committee member and historian.
The collection contains materials from all periods of Myers’s life (1908-1988), but particularly focuses on his long career as a teacher and nuclear medicine researcher at The Ohio State University (late 1940s through the early1980s). Similarly, it contains teaching and research materials from his appointments at the UC Berkeley/Lawrence Lab and Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
The Julius Nemeth, MD Collection (approximately ½ linear foot) is a compilation of material about Dr. Julius Nemeth.
The Nursing Oral Histories Collection (approximately 8 linear feet) contains nursing oral histories conducted from 2000 to 2008. Carol Robinson conducted the oral histories in boxes 1 through 15 and 18, 19 and 22. Sandra Cornett conducted the oral history in box 16. Linda Bass conducted the oral histories in boxes 17, 20 and 21.
The Ohio Public Health Association Collection (approximately ½ linear feet) is a compilation of material that briefly documents the Ohio Public Health Association.
The OHSLA records are generated by OHSLA. The five series for OHSLA collection are: Activities, Administration, Associated Group, Digital Media, and Photographs. The collection contains records, newsletters, photographs, overheads, floppy disks and pamphlets accumulated by OHSLA members.
The collection is particularly strong in the documentation of meeting reports and the newsletter, “OHSLA Voice.” The collection contains several undated items.
The OSU nursing collection contains albums, artifacts, documents, photographs, and scrapbooks containing Ohio State University’s School of Nursing over many years.
The collection is weak when dates are involved because only some the records in this collection contain dates. Many of the photographs have no date and the names of the people in them are unknown as well.

The OSU Division of Cardiovascular Medicine Collection (0.5 linear feet) is comprised of photographs and brochures of the Division.
OSU Hospitals Video Collection
The Ohio State University Medical Center Service Board Collection (approximately 13 linear feet) is a compilation of material that documents the history of the organization as well as its activities primarily from 1989 onward.
Dwight Palmer Collection
Dwight Palmer Collection (approximately 4 linear feet) is a collection of illustrations used in Palmer’s 1937 book “The Human Nervous System: A Textbook of Psycho-Neurology for Freshman Medical Students.”
Dr. George Paulson, MD conducted oral histories with fifty-six people from 1997-2005. This collection is comprised of those interviews.
The Thomas E. Rardin, MD Collection (approximately ½ linear foot) is a compilation of material that primarily documents the creation of The OSU Thomas E. Rardin Family Practice Center.
The Riverside Methodist Hospital Collection (approximately ½ linear foot) contains educational videos produced by Riverside.
The D.H. Rowe collection contains a variety of records relating to Rowe’s life and medical practice. Included are photographs, diplomas and certificates, an obituary newspaper tribute. Of particular interest are the collection’s patient ledgers, which detail the services rendered by and costs charged by a physician in the area in the 1920s.
The B. Anne Rubin Collection contains an autobiography of and memorabilia from her nursing school years (1946-1950) at The Ohio State University School of Nursing. Also included is a 1992 copy of her resume.
The Samuel Saslaw, MD, PhD Collection contains photographs of Saslaw at award ceremonies and posed with his colleagues in group photos. Photographs of the OSU Medical complex are also in the collection. The collection also includes a two reel-to-reel audio recordings of Saslaw’s participation in the Practical Management of Infections Diseases conference, held on February 6, 1963.

The Robert Schweikart, PhD Collection (approximately 1 linear foot) is a compilation of material that primarily documents some of Schweikart’s time as Associate Director and then Director of the Ohio State University Center for Continuing Medical Education. The Jane Sedgwick Collection (approximately 10.5 linear feet) is a compilation of material that documents the Ohio State University College of Medicine Journal during Sedgwick’s time as Managing Editor. The collection is comprised mainly of photographs.
The Maud Slye, MD Collection (approximately 1 ¼ linear feet) is two books written by Dr. Slye and some newspaper articles about her scientific research as well as a framed portrait of her.
The Shirley Bogart Tarbill Collection contains the nursing school remembrances and memorabilia of Tarbill as well as newspaper clippings and correspondence from her nursing career.
The Adolph E. Waller, PhD Collection (approximately ¼ linear foot) is biographical material about and reprints of Dr. Waller.
